The Rutgers Center for Adult Autism Services (RCAAS) recently launched a new weekly e-newsletter, On the Spectrum in Adulthood.

As mentioned in this Rutgers Today article, in light of COVID-19, the RCAAS has been providing remote services to continue to support its participants while they adjust to routines at home. While this remote support service is provided for Supporting Community Access through Leisure and Employment (SCALE) program participants and College Support Program (CSP) students only, On the Spectrum in Adulthood offers information and resources for the greater RCAAS and adult autism community at large.

James Maraventano, EdD, BCBA-D, Director of the RCAAS-SCALE program, is the Editor-in-Chief of On the Spectrum in Adulthood. Every week, he and select contributors provide the e-newsletter subscribers with resources and content specifically tailored for adults on the autism spectrum, their families and caregivers, and support professionals who serve adults on the autism spectrum. All of the content provided is developed by a wide range of GSAPP experts, including board-certified behavior analysts, researchers, and more.

The e-newsletter provides information on a different topic weekly. Past topics include: “Rethinking the Routine,” “The Fundamentals of Functional Living Skills,” “Avoiding the Quarantine 15,” “Staying Connected While Social Distancing,” “Addressing Challenging Behavior,” “Navigating the Nuances of Social Skills,” and “Problem Solving: Skills, Steps, and Solutions.”

This week, Dr. Vanessa Bal, Karmazin and Lillard Chair in Adult Autism and GSAPP Associate Professor, is taking the lead to create a special edition of On the Spectrum in Adulthood. In the June 11th issue, Dr. Bal and her team discuss various mental health topics for those on the autism spectrum.
