Once accepted into the program, CSP Students and their parents/guardians are required to attend a New Student and New Parient Orientation before the start of their first Fall semester.

New Student Orientation

Prior to the beginning of the Fall semester, the CSP conducts a New Student Orientation (note: this is separate from Rutgers' Orientation, which new students are also expected to attend). During this important session, students will have the opportunity to review the support services that will be provided to them by the CSP. They will also hear presentations from campus partners (e.g., Residence Life, Title IX) about important information that may be relevant to them as students. Additionally, students will be paired with a Peer Mentor (in accordance with University return-to-campus guidelines), who will individually escort them on the campus buses to each of their classes so that they feel confident finding their classes once they begin (note: this Peer Mentor "navigation guide" may not be your student's match for the entire year). New Student Orientation is typically held towards the end of August.

New Parent Orientation

Prior to the beginning of the Fall semester, the CSP conducts a New Parent Orientation for families of students new to the CSP. Examples of information reviewed include: discussing the specific supports the CSP can provide, the services that the CSP will typically make referrals for, the expectations of enrolled CSP students/program participation (e.g., attending the supports included through the CSP, following recommendations made by their CSP Coordinator, social event attendance), and how often the CSP staff communicates with parents. New Parent Orientation is typically held towards the end of August before the start of the academic year.
