In celebration of the new Community Center, there were speeches from Rutgers-NB Chancellor-Provost Francine Conway, RCAAS Executive Director Christopher Manente, RCAAS Relationship Coach Amy Gravino, Senator Stephen Sweeney, Rutgers University President Jonathan Holloway, and Executive Director of the Karma Foundation Dina Karmazin Elkins. Guests gathered on the Community Center’s lawn to mark the building’s official grand opening and the beginning of many new opportunities to embody our three-pronged mission of service, training, and research.

RCAAS Executive Director, Dr. Christopher Manente; RCAAS-SCALE participant and gold-medal winning Special Olympics athlete, Alex Scheck; and his mother, Angela Scheck, share how participation in sports has played a vital role in fostering social connection and inclusivity. Their presentation, "Barries & Benefits to Participation in Sports and Recreation for Adults on the Autism Spectrum," was given live during the Rutgers Department of Kinesiology and Health’s Center for Disability Sports, Health and Wellness' inaugural conference.
