COLLEGE SUPPORT PROGRAM (CSP) MARKS ONE YEAR WITH GSAPP-RCAAS

On July 1, 2019, the College Support Program (CSP), one of the units within the Rutgers Center for Adult
Autism Services (RCAAS), marked the one-year anniversary of its successful transition to GSAPP. The CSP
supports matriculated undergraduate students on the autism spectrum through key collaboration with
campus partners, weekly Coordinator and Peer Mentor (neurotypically-matched students), and more.
Due to COVID-19, the CSP has amended its admissions process, which is separate from that of Rutgers
University’s, and is still accepting applications for the 2020-2021 academic year. For more information

It was a challenging year, but one that was also filled with many notable accomplishments! Below is a list of key CSP achievements:

  • Held highest attended Joint Inquiry Day with Undergraduate Admissions to dually educate prospective students and their families about RU and the CSP
  • The College Autism Network (CAN) recognized the CSP for providing outstanding remote student support during the pandemic
  • CSP Coordinator, Courtney Butler, MS, BCBA, served as a frequent contributor to the RCAAS e-newsletter, On The Spectrum in Adulthood, offering valuable resources and insights for the adult autism community
  • Doubled the number of Peer Mentors through effective recruitment efforts
  • Created a Peer Mentor Executive Board, a critical forum that facilitated candid CSP Staff-PM communication
  • Produced new CSP marketing brochure
  • Participated in a successful fundraising event, raising money and awareness with community partner, Jersey Mike’s at The Yard
  • Implemented a new supplemental employment program
  • Two recent CSP graduates achieved remarkable successful through immediate job attainment and acceptance into a PhD program
  • Moved numerous processes and procedures to digital platforms, including efficient use of Qualtrics
  • Expanded website (in progress)
